The Science Behind
- The outer layer of the mask is treated to have anti-bacterial functions, and coated with water-repellent materials to prevent droplets from penetrating or sticking. The treatments are developed by Esquel Group, and the treated fabric has been independently tested by multiple laboratories in Guangdong province to be effective against certain bacteria including Staphylococcus Aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and flu viruses such as H1N1.

Use and Wash Instructions

- Remove the pair of masks from the packing
- Mark down the serial numbers of each mask

Everyday use

- Clean your hands before and after putting on or removing the mask.
- Ensure the side with the QR code label faces outwards; secure the loops around both ears; mold the wire over nose bridge; extend the mask to fully cover nose, mouth and chin
- Avoid touching the surfaces of the mask
- If you have to take off your mask temporarily, clean your hands first, and then fold the mask outwards and stow it inside a new and clean envelop or a piece of tissue. Remember to discard the used envelop or tissue properly.
- Wash the mask after each day of use; allow to dry completely
- Record usage; discard the mask after 30 washes
- For personal use only; do not share one mask
- Stop using the mask if it is visibly damaged, soiled or has odor
- Stop using the mask if there are any symptoms of an allergic reaction

- Gentle hand wash: soak in lukewarm water (up to 40°C) for 2 minutes with gentle detergent or soap
- Rinse with clean water; do not rub, brush or wring
- Do not use antiseptic detergents or bleach; do not dry clean

- May iron at low temperature for optimal water-repellent effect

Wearing Masks- Wearing a mask is one of the ways to help prevent COVID-19 infections. Most important is to observe good personal hygiene：
- Always maintain proper hand hygiene. Clean hands with liquid soap or alcohol-based hand rub and water
- Avoid touching your face with your hands
- Avoid going to crowded areas
- After using the toilet, close the lid before flush
- Cover your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose used tissue into closed bins and clean hands thoroughly afterwards
- If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing, avoid going to work or school and seek medical advice immediately
- Ensure good ventilation in indoor spaces
- Clean and disinfect your surroundings spaces regularly

The Story of YiJiaRen Mask
- The unprecedented global demand for face masks fueled by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic has created issues from hoarding and price gouging, to health risks such as reusing of single-use disposable masks and potential shortages for those who need them most. As a company that treats our people as family, Esquel Group reacted promptly to look for an intermediate solution to address the problem of face-mask shortage.
- YiJiaRen Mask, which translates to "One Esquel family", is the result of our relentless effort in collaboration with experts and professionals. It is a unique cotton mask that is washable and reusable for up to 30 times, providing people with an ample level of protection, reducing the use of disposable masks, as well as alleviating the level of waste and impact to the environment.
- The masks have been distributed to Esquel's ~30,000 colleagues in China, effectively saving a monthly consumption of ~900,000 single-use medical masks for medical practitioners who need them most.
- Between February and March 2020, we have manufactured close to a million YiJiaRen Masks. Apart from those given to our fellow colleagues, the rest of them were donated to the people in need in communities where we operate.
- We are overwhelmed and encouraged by the positive feedback since the story of YiJiaRen Mask was widely circulated in the media. Some of our working partners and government organizations have expressed their intents to order YiJiaRen Mask in bulk, while many of our colleagues wish to purchase the masks on behalf of their family members. We also noticed that the face-mask shortage was further aggravated following the pandemic declaration of World Health Organization (WHO) in early March, which prompted countries to ban exports of masks.
- Considering it could be a prolonged fight against COVID-19, Esquel has decided to begin accepting internal orders from our colleagues. The masks will be sold close to the cost price so we may maintain sustainable supply should there are more demand in the future.
